"A forest bird never wants a cage." - Henrik Ibsen
Inside every woman there is something untamable. She is unbreakable. She is unstoppable. This is the exact reason that Artwork credits come with almost every package.
Someone recently asked me "could it be cheaper if I just got a cd?"
No. Absolutely not. It is a common question, and I don't blame her for asking because it makes sense to a certain degree. Of course it would be cheaper FOR ME to only give you a CD. Shoot, I can get those for like, a dime a dozen at Walmart and send you on your merry way.
It would be an extreme disservice for me to offer you a CD and say "bye!" because what have I really done for you then? Yes, you felt incredible the day we did your photoshoot and when you saw your photos you exclaimed "thats me?!"
But me offering you a CD of your photos makes it
Don't lie to yourself -- did you actually print the photos that you have on the last CD of photos you received? Did the cd eventually get tossed into the box with all the other photos that you never look at?
The purpose of my packages containing artwork credits is because the woman in your photos is not really you. -- Now hear me out!
She is one part of you.
She is the vixen.
She is the siren.
She is the goddess.
Your creativity, love for your career and other passions, and about 80% of the rest of your personality is not captured in these photos. She is not really, truly you. She is the fiercest version of you. You need to rise to meet her every day.
Some days she won't be needed (binging Netflix anyone?) But some days she needs to lead you.
Job interview? Skydiving today? Leaving an abusive relationship? Quitting your job to pursue your passion? Applying for a business loan? Applying for full custody? Interviewing for graduate school? Honestly, just getting through your life some days...
It is my philosophy, and the philosophy of Cherry Tree Boudoir, that you need to
Wake up and see her, wake up and be her.
If you've left the CD of your boudoir artwork in a memory box that sits in your closet you will have spent your money but the value you will receive is only a small, minuscule, tiny portion of what the true value of such an experience actually is. I don't want that for you. I don't want you to save a small amount of money to receive an exponentially smaller experience.
A boudoir photography shoot is something that you should place your whole heart into. You should take care planning your wardrobe, choosing your makeup inspiration, and considering any props or homages you'd like to pay, and the very same way you should go through your house and ask yourself where do I want to wake up and see her so I can wake up and be her? Once you know where she will look over you from, giving you inspiration with every pass by, you should measure the spaces that you will devote to her.
Sometimes one giant canvas is not appropriate. Sometimes its smaller reminders through out the house. An acrylic block on your makeup vanity that depicts a beautiful head shot that that will inspire you every day that you will look at when you're getting ready. In your bathroom, perhaps a beautiful body scape that reminds you that you are powerful even if when you look in the mirror a sigh sometimes escapes. Perhaps a cluster of 3 photos over your bed or dresser will help you when you rise to see yourself as an incredible human being, straight away in the morning.
Whatever you choose to do, you should be reminded regularly that that person is inside of you, waiting for you to need her.
A CD of boudoir photography is certainly a disservice from me to you, but even more so from you to you.
Just a note:
Thank you for your patience in waiting for this blog. The beauty featured in this blog post got married suddenly over the weekend, and I was a part of the wedding party. Congratulations to this beautiful bride and her groom! She looked stunning as expected!
